I am a artist working in multiple materials such as ceramics, wood and fiber. I am an Associate Professor of Art and teach 3D and foundations at St Norbert College in De Pere, WI. I also show my work regularly at Abel Contemporary Gallery in Stoughton, WI https://www.abelcontemporary.com/artists
I am interested in how we make sense of the world through objects and images. The everyday things around us conjure up memory and emotion in unexpected ways and act as metaphors for direct experience. Just as the still life transforms the ordinary through the act of looking and seeing, my sculptural works investigate this concept through the interplay between objects and images such as the multiple, found object, handmade and cast forms. The assemblages of objects and forms within sculptural works are intended as open ended invitations to viewers as they navigate meaning. I intend the works to be familiar and unfamiliar at the same time, with dense, overlapping materials, unmoored from their contexts and open to interpretation.
